Edwin (also known as Speedy) and Nidia George started their Speedy’s business in the early 1960’s from their own house with Virgin Gorda’s first ever diving school. Soon after this, they were taking visitors on Island Tours on their safari bus and they ended up offering a weekly shopping trip to St. Thomas by ferry. Nowadays Speedy’s Ferry Services runs a reliable and comfortable Inter Island service with several modern Speedy vessels to take you to your destination.
Their fleet consists have six different boats that provide space for up to 15 to 215 passengers departing from Virgin Gorda’s The Valley to Trellis Bay on Beef Island, Road Town on Tortola and Charlotte Amalie on St. Thomas. The ferry from St. Thomas to Virgin Gorda takes around 2 hours and runs on Tuesdays and Saturdays each week (depending on the season). On all other days you can get to Virgin Gorda by changing boats in Road Town Tortola.
Important note: For travel between the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) and British Virgin Islands (BVI) a vaild passport is required. Also, USVI Port tax is levvied at check-in, costing $10, while BVI departure tax is $20 for departures in the other direction. This is not included in ticket prices.

The dedicated Beef Island (Airport) Tortola to Virgin Gorda service takes around 20 minutes, departing from Trellis Bay (a short walk from the airport terminal) and arriving at the main dock in Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda. There are multiple daily crossings in each direction, usually timed to coincide optimally with flight arrivals and departures.
